Tuesday

It’s been a wet old day. Floods in SE QLD and northern NSW have been on the news all day. It’s been devastating to see the damage and loss of life.  News reports tell us that it’s all headed this way starting tonight and through tomorrow. School sent a letter to advise us to consider keeping kids home tomorrow. It means I don’t have to go in early to drop S at school, so yep, they can stay at home.  It’s shrove Tuesday which for us, means pancakes for breakfast. I’m pleased that the kids want to keep that tradition going and I hope that they keep it up in future for their own families.  This morning consisted of making canja with a frozen chicken in the pressure cooker. I added lots of peas, carrots and garlic. I took Charlie for a quick walk around the block before the rain came and then took a large container of canja to dad. Gotta make sure he’s eating okay while he’s at home in isolation. I slipped on a wet slimy patch near dads mailbox and one foot slid to the fence and I landed i

Today was a quiet day. I spent the morning cleaning out the couches and cushions to make them a little bit nice. Millys dinner request was nachos so I prepared the mince in the afternoon before I collected the kids. I called dad twice today and he’s really not doing too badly. He said he only feels like he’s got a little cold. That’s good that it’s not affected him too much. He’s been so scared of covid over the past 2 years and I’m glad it’s not as bad as he expected. I collected the kids from school at 5 as it was the first day of the school musical auditions / rehearsals. This year, the production will be a quirky version of Cinderella. S is hoping for the main boy role which is Prince Freddie and A was hoping for an ugly step sister role but is worried at the competition. It was early night and I spent the evening weaving the ends of my crochet rug while watching more Killing Eve on the iPad. Yep, obsessed.

Weekend

Saturday was zoom day organised by Chookyblue. It was a lot of fun to sit, see and chat to other sewing ladies. I don’t have any ‘in real life’ sewing friends who live locally so I guess the zooming is the next best thing.  Sunday was a day of carting the kids back and forth from work. Sunday I also found out that dad has covid which came as a complete surprise. He barely leaves the house but we think he may have caught it at the club… possibly, maybe.  I was with dad all day Friday so I’m keeping an eye out for symptoms over the next couple of days.  I put our couches on FB for free pickup as our new Liu he is due this week. We’ll be without somewhere to sit for a few days, but I’m very glad that they’re gone. These couches have been good to us and have been photographed a tonne of times for quilt and cushion photos. They lasted about 5 years and have now gone to live at a new house in East Corrimal.
